Rumors went wild earlier this week with the suggestion of a Rage Against The Machine reunion. A tweet went viral announcing the creation of ProhpetsOfRage.com, which, fans assumed, was going to announce a Rage reunion. It turns out… we’re in for an even better treat!
Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk are going to be joined by Public Enemy‘s Chuck D and B-Real from Cypress Hill – forming a new supergroup called Prophets Of Rage.
So that leaves the question: Where does Zach de la Rocha fit in? Is he involved at all? Loudwire reports…
“Fans will have to wait another 12 days for an official Prophets of Rage announcement, but according to Billboard and other sources, it’s not a Rage Against the Machine reunion, as had been speculated by fans and the media. Billboard claims Prophets of Rage will come together to perform classics from Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill. RATM vocalist Zack de la Rocha is reportedly not involved in the group.
Billboard claims Prophets of Rage’s debut will take place at the Hollywood Palladium on June 3, with a show at L.A.’s Whisky a Go Go also planned. We may even see a summer tour from Prophets of Rage.”
So, no Zach de la Rocha, but if anyone can handle the message that a Rage Against The Machine supergroup would (I’m assuming) would want to convey – there is no better choice than Chuck D or B-Real, if Zach chose not to be involved.
